Fascinating Honduras - 7 Days Nature,
Historical and Colonial Honduras Day
1 Day
2 After
breakfast we take a boat ride across the lake. In the afternoon we visit
the Pulhapanzak Waterfalls, the most impressive in the country. Return
to our hotel and free time to take a bird watching walk. Lake Yojoa, due
to it's elevation and geographical location, attracts the greatest
concentration of birds in the country. About 400 of 700 species
registered in Honduras live around this lake. Overnight in a nearby
hotel. Day
3 After
breakfast transfer to La Esperanza, driving through some of the most
fascinating landscapes in Honduras. In La Esperanza we interact with
Lenca Indians, the largest indigenous group in the country. Admire their
famed craftsmanship and maybe pick up a souvenir, an exemplary choice, a
beautiful piece of black pottery. We continue driving through the
countryside to Gracias. Overnight in Gracias. Day
4 Early
in the morning transfer to the Celaque National Park Visitor's Center,
located at 1,400 Mts. Above sea level. The Celaque mountain is part of
the mountain range with the same name, the highest in the region at 2,
849 meters above sea level. We have all day to explore the rich
biodiversity of this cloud forest, and to appreciate the many species of
flora within: orchids, ferns, bromeliads, ancient trees, and lianas,
among others. We take a brief rest with a snack. In the afternoon return
to Gracias to bathe in the natural hot springs. Overnight in Gracias. Day
5 Today
we take the Pan American Highway to Copán. On the way, a brief visit to
Santa Rosa de
Copán, the most important city in western Honduras. We tour a local
tobacco factory and observe the manual production of Honduran cigars.
Driving on the highway we reach Copán Ruins in the afternoon. After
settling in you may enjoy the atmosphere of the picturesque village.
Overnight in Copán. Day
6 Visit
to the legendary Archaeological Park of Copán, which consists of two
main sites: the ruins and the sepulchers (Las Sepulturas). Enjoy the
impressive 63 step stairway with over 2,500 hieroglyphs and the
masterfully carved steal. In the afternoon we visit Las Sepulturas, a
residential and burial site of Mayan nobles. Overnight in Copán. Day
7 During
the morning you may take a walk along the Copán River or just relax by
the pool at your hotel. In the afternoon return to San Pedro Sula. End
of the program or extension of your stay with another of our
itineraries. Services
