Day
1
Welcome
in San Pedro Sula. Transfer to your hotel. Typical dinner and overnight
in San Pedro Sula.
Day
2
Overland
transfer from San Pedro Sula to Copán Ruins. We will stop at the town
of La Entrada to visit the local marketplace. Driving through beautiful
countryside we'll reach Copán Ruins. In the afternoon we'll visit the
Copán Museum and you may enjoy the environment and atmosphere of Copán
Ruins. Overnight in Copán.

3
After
breakfast we visit the legendary Archaeological Park of Copán,
consisting of two main sites: the ruins and the sepulchers. Enjoy the
impressive 63 step stairway with over 2,500 hieroglyphs and the
masterfully carved steal. We return to town for a brief meal, then we
continue on our tour to site Las Sepulturas, a residential and burial
site of the Mayan nobles. Overnight in Copán Ruins.

En
route to the Yojoa Lake, we will tour the town of Santa Bárbara,
renowned for the colorful baskets and panama hats produced by local
cooperatives. Lunch in Santa Barbara before continuing to the Yojoa
Lake. After settled in, we take a boat ride across the lake. Overnight
in a nearby hotel.

After
breakfast we take walk for some bird watching. Lake Yojoa attracts the
greatest concentration of birds in the country. About 400 of the 700
species registered in Honduras can be found around this lake. Later we
visit the Pulhapanzak Waterfall, most spectacular in the country.

Transfer
to Tegucigalpa. En route we will visit the city of Comayagua and its
colonial Cathedral. Our Hotel in Tegucigalpa is a quite, peaceful
mountain hotel which is situated out of town in the middle of a dense
pine forest. Take a walk and breathe the fresh, pine scented air.
Overnight stay in the mountain hotel.

After
breakfast transfer to the visitor's center of La Tigra National Park. La
Tigra boasts everything a Honduran national park should, from an
abundance of exotic animal species to refreshing waterfalls to
kilometers of peaceful, well maintained trails. Hike on park trails,
over the mountain. During the hike, we have plenty of opportunity to
enjoy and admire the beauty of the forest. In the afternoon we drive to
Valle de Angeles, where we visit the famous National Handicraft Center.
In the afternoon return to the hotel.

Departure
from Tegucigalpa to Olancho, Honduran's interior where cowboys still
roam. This region is one the most unknown in Honduras. Driving through a
beautiful landscape we will reach the Caribbean town of Trujillo in the
late afternoon. Typical dinner. Overnight in Trujillo.
Day
9
Trujillo
possesses a rich colonial past and striking contrasts between the
Afro-Caribbean and Mestizo communities. We will tour some historical
sites, including the Santa Barbara Fortress. Free afternoon to enjoy the
beach and the Caribbean see. Overnight in Trujillo.
Day
10
Early
morning excursion to the Capiro and Calentura National Park, set on the
mountain right behind Trujillo. The mountain offers a great view of the
majestic Trujillo Bay, one of the most beautiful in the country. A boat
tour will take through the channels of Guaymoreto Lagoon. Leisure time
at the beach. At night, enjoy the folklore of the Garífuna community,
expressed through music and dancing. Overnight in Trujillo.

In
our way to La Ceiba we will visit one Banana Plantation and the
beautiful Peru Beach. After settling in, we will visit the Butterfly and
Insect Museum with it's impressive collection. Overnight in La Ceiba.

12
Early
transfer to La Unión. Here we change our vehicle for a "burra"
or "donkey" (man powered railway car) to the Cuero Salado
Wildlife Refuge Visitor's Center. Then we board a boat which transports
us into the tropical forest, through the various canals, estuaries and
mangrove bordered lagoons of the Salado River as we watch the wildlife.
We lunch in the small community of Salado, nestled between river and
sea. In the afternoon return to La Ceiba. Leisure time to enjoy the
rich, tropical atmosphere in one of the merriest towns in the country.

13
After
breakfast transfer to Tela. We will visit the Lancetilla Botanical
Garden. The gardens were founded over 70 years ago as an experimental
botanical site by the United Fruit Company. Here you will find hardwood,
medicinal and ornamental plants as well as tropical fruit trees from all
over the world. You will see how the bamboo forest absorbs some 90% of
the daylight, admire the long rows of majestic Royal Palms or try exotic
fruits fresh from the tree. An Orchid Garden and a Natural Reserve with
it's beautiful 1,200-hectare virgin tropical rainforest with 240 species
of birds are also part of the Park.
We
then proceed to our hotel located right on the beach. Overnight in
Tela/Tornabé.

14
In
Tela we will visit the Garifuna Museum and then the community of Triunfo
de la Cruz to enjoy extensive beaches and the atmosphere of the Garífuna
communities in Honduras. Transfer to San Pedro Sula on time to connect
your departure flight or an extension program to the beautiful Bay
Islands.
